October 17, 2021. Although my path has led me here before, it was by invitation my path for Mass was back at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mundelein Seminary.
This celebration Mass marks the 100th anniversary of Mundelein Seminary. The Principal Celebrant and Homilist was Cardinal Wilton D. Gregory, Archbishop of Washington, D.C., who also is an Alumni of Mundelein Seminary.
Cardinal Gregory’s message was compassionate and clear, “The Cross confounds the world, only through suffering do we appreciate trumpet”.
As Mass was ending, the Rector and President of Mundelein Seminary, Very Reverend John F. Kartje had the closing words for us to reflect on, “just as the Church steeple is surrounded by scaffolding for repairs, so too it seems our hearts are in need of scaffolding for repairs”.
Through this seminary there are good men studying, willing and committing to live foremost for Christ. They are the future and after meeting a few of them, the future of the Church looks positively bright!
