(62) May 20, 2018. Drove 354.9 miles to attend Mass at “Our Lady of Gethsemani”, in Monks, Kentucky. Left home at 2 am to make it there before 10:30.
Celebrating Pentecost with the Monks was so very special. The second reading struck a nerve that will forever give me food for the soul. The Holy Spirit will not live where lust resides.
Getting to see one of my favorite author’s grave was like visiting a friend. I never met Thomas Merton in person, but love his books. I did get to meet Fr.James who knew him and told me about Thomas. I hope one day to return to this Abby for a spiritual retreat, to enjoy the grounds and be very, very quiet.
