(102) February 24, 2019. Very early this morning dropped a friend off at O’Hare International Airport. And come to find out there is a “Interfaith Chapel” (upper level concourse 2) where police, pilots, passengers and me celebrated Mass at 6:30 am. This Chapel also serves Islamic Juma’ Prayer and Protestant Worship.
Rev. Michael G. Zaniolo is the Administrator and Catholic Chaplain. Fr. Michael spoke about his own testimony during a time in Lent. Every beggar he saw on the street, he gave them money. But that wasn’t enough. He then practice not judging them. That too wasn’t enough. What really made the difference was asking all of them their names. So that they weren’t nameless beggars anymore. They were people deserving of more than just a handout. They are brothers and sisters deserving respect, kindness and love.
Exactly what Jesus asks of all of us to do. As all people are deserving no matter our life’s status, or our beliefs. Respect for life begins with respecting no matter how difficult it is to do.
