July 18, 2021. Today’s only Mass at St. Denis was at 10am, which gave me time to read and reflect The Readings and Gospel, early morning. It was as if these proclamations are today’s news, although they were written thousands of years ago.
“Woe to the shepherds who mislead and scatter the flock of my pasture, says the Lord”. “In Christ Jesus you who once were far off have become near by the blood of Christ”. “Come away by yourself to a deserted place and rest awhile”.
For me, these are headline news from the Bible that keep me informed to news that still holds true today. My deserted place to rest is in the Church, never to be far off to receive The Body of Christ and pray for those who mislead the flock from The Word.
Fr. Carlos Arancibia apologize for the long homily that was spoken both in English and Spanish. But he needed to feed the flock accordingly as a good Father should with inspiring words to feed our souls. “If we are to renew and rebuild the Church, we must remember when and how the Church began”. Fr. Carlos’ closing words for us to reflect on.
