September 5, 2021. It was an early morning arrival to St. Elizabeth Seton for Mass. The campus is modern and planned out to serve the faith community in ministries for the young and old alike. Although my visit was just that, my encounter with the pastor, Fr. William T. Corcoran, Ph.D. and associate pastor, Fr. John Zurek was an experience of belonging to this Church just for a short while.
Two words in Fr. William’s homily struck me boldly, “Be Open”, that is allow oneself to see and hear the goodness of modern day miracles. Fear has a way of blinding, deafening and destroying our senses to be open for graces. Jesus said, “Ephphatha”, be open and healed the deaf man with a speech impediment. That same miracle boldly happens for me by being open to hearing The Word and seeing The Church that restores my senses.
