St. Alphonsus Catholic Church

(45) January 21, 2018. After a challenging yesterday, today couldn’t get to St. Alphonse in Chicago fast enough to pray for forgiveness and be feed The Word. Opening the door to this magnificent Church put me in a state of bliss. Joe Rifner, the world’s friendliest usher told me, he’s been a parishioner for 85 years. Joe shared personal and historical stories about his beautiful parish. Fr. Michael O’Connell spoke about Kronos and Kairos in his homily. Kronos being the ordinary in life. Kairos is a state of elevated spirituality that is not a fantasy. Rather a state of being one with Christ. Partaking in the Eucharist feeds the soul’s hunger for that yearning and need for Kairos. The knowledge that my sins have been forgiven and my soul well feed renewed my state of being peaceful and loved.
