Food is vital to sustain life. What began at The Last Supper with The Apostles turned into The First Supper for Christians.
As my stomach growled at Mass from fasting, my soul’s need was to be fed first. It’s by the hands of humans that make food for living, but it’s the hands of a Priest that prepares food for the journey.
Today we celebrate Corpus Christi, which really is awesome to celebrate. Jesus who prepared His Apostles at The Last Supper, by offering His Body and Blood continues on to this day to give souls’ vital nourishment. There is no food made by humans that can vitally sustain life ever after, only Jesus can offer that.
In the words of Fr. Joseph Glab, “The Reading and Gospel together connect the dots of The Word made Flesh.” The Word and Eucharist is Jesus and it was good to listen and be fed at St. Matthew today.
