Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine of Saint Jude

September 16, 2023.

Having seen The Tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe once owned by a simple man Juan Diego, my adoration to Mother Mary is unwavering.

This Church was built to be the first parish in Chicago for Mexicans who came here to work the steel mills and to have a place to worship. She was named “Our Lady of Guadalupe”, although the corner stone reads 1928, it was in 1923 the parish was founded and it’s been 100 years Mexicans have been coming here to worship God and give thanks for their new homeland.

After Fr. Steve spoke his homily on forgiveness, we sat in silence to ask God to help us to forgive and be forgiven. It was a powerful and humbling time to be simple people praying and petitioning for God’s mercy in a place where the history began in Mexico by one simple man and the miracle given to us on his tilma.
