Holy Family is rich in history being the oldest continuous Catholic Parish in the UnitedStates. Holy Family was founded in 1699 by Canadian missionaries. The Log Church, built in 1799, is a National Historic Landmark and is the oldest church west of the Alleghany Mountains. Constructed of black walnut timbers in the traditional French Colonial style, the Log Church is only one of five built in this style that still exists in North America. Pastor History The Log Church is open for tours from Memorial Weekend through mid August and weekends through Labor Day. Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. daily, except on Sundays when the Church will open at 11:00 a.m. During the off season tours are available, by appointment only, by contacting Holy Family’s rectory at 618-337-4548. We are proud to have provided a Catholic education in the Cahokia area for many years. Due to a changing demographic, we are unable to operate a Catholic school in the area. We have created a place on the web for the alumni of these schools to connect with each other. Please visit our Alumni Connection Page to reconnect now. We are a diverse parish offering multiple styles of Worship. A traditional Organ Mass is celebrated at 5:00 pm every Saturday evening in the main church. A Tridentate Latin Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the Log Church . A more contemporary Guitar Mass is celebrated every Sunday Morning at 10:00 am in the main church.
