Mission San Diego de Alcalá

January 5, 2020. Traveled to San Diego for a family plan. And while here there was a purpose to attend Mass at California’s oldest Catholic Mission. Pictures sort of capture the physical beauty of this sacred place. But to truly experience the essence of “Mission San Diego de Alcalá”, one must take a walk around the grounds and then be part of the Mass.

Today’s Mass celebration was “The Epiphany of the Lord”. Fr. Billy Zondler’s homily was perfectly said and lighthearted. There was a question for us to ponder a moment. The Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus. That signified Jesus’s kingship, birth and death. We too are asked, what gift do we have for Jesus? The thought that came to me at the same time Fr. Billy said, “our hearts”. And why not, Jesus gave and gives His Heart to all of us.
