Five Holy Martyrs Chicago

October, 10, 2021. The namesake of today’s Church is “Five Holy Martyrs”, who had lost their lives to thieves. These five Monks lived holy lives and for that their bodies were incorruptible after death.

This Church was visited by Pope John Paul II, who has been also venerated a Saint of our times. Exteriorly and interiorly this Church has been modernized, yet parts of her remain much older.

This combination of old and new is a testament of remembering the good works of Saints, who lived to serve God above all else. Setting examples of today’s Gospel reading, Saints free themselves from the grips of maternalism and followed Jesus. In doing so a Saint’s most valuable possession can’t be robbed by thieves, and is rewarded an incorruptible eternal life in Christ.
