(85) October 28, 2018. Only a couple of days ago, my choice was to attend Mass at St. Gertrude in Chicago. With every fiber of my being, my belief is God chose this Church for me and my Grandson, today.
We sat near the choir that sang familiar hymns that are love songs to me. The people who surrounded me and my Grandson gave us warm welcoming smiles as he moved around in the pew during mass.
Fr. Bill Creed a Jesuit priest from Loyola University was the presider. His homily focused on the Gospel. Jesus was asked by a blind man to be given the miracle of sight. The meaning of this message is that so many have the ability to see and yet are blind. It is our faith that gives us true vision to see the world with loving eyes. Yet so many choose to live in darkness. It’s apparent by so much hate in our world.
But not so here in this place of worship. It was truly visible this faith community cares for mankind beyond the doors of this Church.
