(95) January 6, 2019. Not all pews were filled today at “Santa Lucia ~ Santa Maria Incoronata” to celebrate “The Epiphany of The Lord”. But for those who did come, they came also to begin their goodbyes to this Church.
Her doors are soon to close and the goodness of this parish will be another historical Chicago memory.
While taking pictures a woman came up to me and said “did you know my Church is closing”? In reply, my answer was yes and that’s why these pictures are important to archive. She was grateful and felt happy to know her Church won’t be forgotten. And soon the people of this little parish will be welcomed to St. Jerome.
It was a sweet blessing from two angelic voices and one parish priest who came from St. Jerome to lead us in Mass. As the doors will soon close at “Santa Lucia ~ Santa Maria Incoronata” the doors of St. Jerome will be open to receive a new faith community.
God and time will heal their broken hearts.
