(38) December 3, 2017. Thanks to God and GPS was directed to Santa Maria Del Popolo. With a full choir, instrumentalists and bell ringers they made the 1st Sunday of Advent even more special. Fr. Gerald O’Reilly’s homily was fill with well said points regarding the readings. One line and explanation that stood out for me was from the Prophet Isaiah. “Why do you let us wander, O Lord from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not”? God giving us free will is why we make mistakes and choose to have harden hearts. It’s a choice to trust in God who gives meaning to our existence. Having fear of the Lord means choosing to have a relationship with God. “If today you hear God’s voice, harden not your heart”. One of my favorite hymns that we sang and my heart melted.
