(99) February 3, 2019. If Mass was a matinee there would be no end to the movie. There’d be a new sequel every week to go back and see.
If Mass was a symphony the music would be the greatest love songs ever written.
If Mass was a sports game, the winners would always be with team Jesus.
No ticket was needed to get a good seat at St. Columbanus, in Chicago. Millions of dollars weren’t spent on ads for the faithful to come and be fed The Word.
Mass is so much more than most understand. It’s a place where we let go of our troubles. Where hymns sooth the soul. Where believers are fed the Body and Blood that heals our brokenness and repairs our spirit. The Mass is not entertainment, Mass is our gate to eternal love.
My thanks to Fr. Matthew S. O’Donnell for allowing me to wander about taking pictures. To the Faith Community for adopting me as a sister in Christ with them. And to Dr. Mark Nimo for a most amazing and enlightening homily. Hope to hear Dr. Nimo again, someday.
It’s been said this was Al Capone’s Mother’s Parish. And Al helped pay for the stain glass windows imported from Austria. The windows are a beautiful tribute to his love for the Catholic Church.
