(49) February 14~18, 2018. Began Lent at a prayer service Ash Wednesday, at St. Edmunds in Oak Park. It was a somber and beautiful reminder to abstain from things that may have become obsessions. Entering into a personal desert for the next 40 plus days to focus on God’s will ~ to strengthen my will to be a better person.
Returned to this most friendly and historical house of worship, Sunday. Taking pictures gave me away as a visitor. Members of the Church gave me a tour and with great pride told me about the treasures that adorn the ceilings, walls, windows and in their hearts. It would take many days to fully appreciate the priceless art at St. Edmunds and it’s free to see. More importantly is feeling The Holy Spirit alive here in this place.
